So you've done it; you've gone through all of the steps of planning your wedding. You've confirmed the schedule and payment with all of your vendors, finished ordering all rentals and decor items, and even completed your final dress fittings and makeup trials. What could possibly go wrong? The answer is...plenty of things. You never know what could go wrong on a wedding day. Cakes falling, water spilling on your escort cards, and bridesmaids who have had a little too much to drink - these are all possible emergencies you may have to deal with on your wedding day. If you haven't hired a wedding planner (which we highly recommend, of course) there are still a few things you can have on hand to help you deal when disaster strikes. Here are a few of our "must haves" for your Wedding Day Emergency Kit.

  1. Pain Relievers & Stomach Relief Medication. Having Advil, Tylenol and Pepto-Bismol on hand is crucial for a wedding day. Not only is it a long day, but the mixture of stress, foods and drinks can take a toll on your body. Make sure to keep small travel sized containers of these in your emergency kit.

  2. Travel Sized First Aid Kit. You can find these in the travel section at Target. This carrying case contains adhesive bandages, a sterile pad, pain reliever, gauze pads, burn relief cream, and antibiotic ointment. Although your venue should have a First Aid Kit on hand, you can never be too cautious - especially when you are having an outdoor wedding.

  3. Beauty & Fashion supplies. These can include the following and more: setting spray, bobby pins, oil wipes, chapstick, deodorant, breath mints, eye drops, hair spray, lotion, sunscreen, clear nail polish, hair bands, hair brush, compact mirror, concealer, safety pins, scissors, mini sewing kit, lint roller, fashion tape, tampons, stain remover and wine wipes.

  4. Tissues. For all of those happy tears! The last thing you want is your makeup running just before you walk down the aisle. Also plan to bring a vintage handkerchief for the groom or father of the bride. Getting these in the wedding's color palette is a great touch!

  5. Protein Bars & Snacks. Often times on your wedding day, you will be too busy running around, greeting your guests and family members, getting ready and thinking about all of your details to find something to eat. Your wedding planner should make sure that you are well nourished and taken care of, but it never hurts to pack granola bars and light snacks just in case a member of your wedding party is feeling famished or light-headed.

  6. Bug Spray. This is a "must have" in many areas of the country, and can help to prevent those little pink bites from showing up in wedding photos.

  7. Backup Wedding music playlist/CD. Your wedding vendors are professionals and you can rely on them to show up on time and provide wonderful services; however, life is sometimes unexpected. If your ceremony musicians are caught in a traffic jam, have a CD of recorded music or a Spotify playlist on your phone to play just in case.

These are just a few of our recommended items in a Wedding Day Emergency Kit. Ivory & Vine Event Co. provides a Wedding Day Emergency Kit containing all of the above items and much more.
